The 2010s
This is from the U.P. Cherubim and Seraphim’s photoshoot for the 2015 theater-in-the-round production of “Awit ni Pulau” at the University Theater. It was taken in the Bonsai Garden, which is hidden in the heart of U.P. Diliman. The photoshoot revealed a surprising little spot, a frame filled with natural beauty, from which we could think about the environment and the need to protect it from harm.
2010s Performances
2016, July - The cast photo of “Awit ni Pulau,” (ANP) taken after the last performance. This theaterpiece is a testament to the group’s awareness of the importance of respecting, safeguarding and protecting the environment. The first ANP production in 1991 took place in the midst of the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. The 2016 revival was in the middle of production when the U.P. Faculty Center burned down and we recorded the hottest summer on record for the decade. A third “virtual” production is being planned in the year of SARS-Covid 19. Truly, a prophetic work for our time.
2020, March 7 - The current batch of U.P. Cherubim and Seraphim at our latest concert “Come Alive” March 7, 2020 exude the energy and strength that the group continues to vibrate with as it approaches the 49th anniversary of its existence. It was the last public performance on campus by a U.P. group before the SARS-Covid 19 lockdown shut down all theaters and prohibited all public performances in the Philippines. We continue to sing together in virtual videos in “Carillons a Musique” and hope to see you again soon for our 50th anniversary in September 2021.
