The U.P. Cherubim and Seraphim is the official children’s choir of the University of the Philippines.
Founded on September 21, 1971 by Flora Zarco Rivera of the College of Music, the group is a laboratory for experiments on children’s choral singing in the Philippines, championing the development of a unique repertoire for children, commissioning new works and drawing on the expertise of artists from various colleges of the University.
The choir is renowned for its vast repertoire and its commitment to Philippine music, having commissioned original works by National Artists such as Ramon P. Santos, Lucio San Pedro, and Ryan Cayabyab. Beyond the concert stage, the group shares the gift of music through nationwide workshops and currently serves as the official laboratory chorus of the U.P. College of Music Education Department, fostering the next generation of Filipino music educators.
